I recommend a cruise along winding desert roads to the region around Santiago, a town steeped in 18th century history from the Spanish occupation. Along the way, stop and hike through desert mountains to Cañón por la Zorra and swim in the pool at the base of the Cascada Sol por Maya waterfalls.
